Vizsla Quick Facts
The Vizsla is also called the Hungarian Pointer. At the end of World War I, the Vizsla was all but extinct. The importation of the breed into the United States began in the 1950s. The breed was admitted into the American Kennel Club in 1960.

The CVC 2010 Annual Specialty Show and Supported Entry was held July 3 and 4, 2010 at Bel Alton, MD. Congratulations and a warm "Thank You" to the winners and all who participated, including especially the hard-working 2010 Specialty Committee!  For full results, photos of the winners, and more information on the CVC Annual Specialty shows, see our CVC Specialty page. Premium now available for the CVC 2010 Fall Field Trial October 1 - 3, 2010!

CVC's Annual Fall Field Trial will be held October 1 - 3, 2010 at the beautiful Indian Springs Wildlife Management Area in Clear Springs MD. Download the Premium from the menu to the right of this page, or from the list of links on our CVC Field Trial page. There will be a brand new travelling trophy awarded to the winner of the Hunting Dog Championship in honor and memory of Linda Pruitt's beloved Hunter! We welcome all, especially hunters and hunt test enthusiasts, to come try your hand (paw?) at winning this fabulous new trophy!

CVC  has a Facebook Group Page!

For all CVC members who like to use Facebook, the Club has set up a Facebook Group page!  The CVC Facebook Group page is available to any CVC member in good standing who uses Facebook.  It is not an actual entity, and there is no cost to the Club. It is intended as an additional information exchange for Club-related matters. It does not replace this official CVC web site, the CVC Newsletter, or periodic e-mails and official notices from the Club to the CVC Membership.  CVC Member DeWane Hill is the Administrator for the CVC Facebook Group page.

Recent CVC Events:

The CVC 2010 Fun Day was held at Strawberry Hill Farm in Thurmont, MD on Sunday, June 6, 2010.  See our Fun Day page for more information.

A CVC Supported Entry in association with the Maryland Sporting Dog Association, Inc. was held at Bel Alton, MD March 7, 2010.

The CVC 2010 Spring Field Trial in Sumerduck, VA originally scheduled for March 12, 13 and 14, 2010 was cancelled due to excessively wet conditions from the continuing snow melt.  See our Field Trial page for more information.

The CVC 2010 Fall Hunt Tests originally scheduled for May 1 and 2, 2010 were cancelled due to insufficient entries. Our next hunt tests will be held in early December 2010. See our Hunt Test page for more information on hunt tests.

The CVC 2009 Fall Hunt Tests were held December 12 and 13, 2009. The CVC 2009 Christmas Party and Annual Membership Meeting was held December 12, 2009.  

The CVC 2009 Fall Field Trial was held October 3-4, 2009 at the Indian Springs Wildlife Management Area, Clear Spring, Maryland.  Congratulations to all placed dogs and their owners and handlers!
